BMW brings its most advanced luxury sedan to the Festival of Speed

While the Goodwood Festival of Speed is best known for high-performance machines, BMW chose a different approach in 2026. Instead of focusing solely on horsepower, the company presented the refreshed BMW M760e xDrive — a flagship luxury sedan that previews the future of BMW interiors.

The updated 7 Series quickly became one of the most talked-about luxury cars at the event.

A cabin inspired by the Neue Klasse era

Although the facelifted 7 Series debuted earlier this year, Goodwood gave visitors their first opportunity to experience the redesigned cabin in person.

BMW has introduced an entirely new dashboard architecture centered around the latest BMW Panoramic iDrive system, which will gradually appear across future BMW models.

The technology package includes:

  • BMW Panoramic Vision projected across the windshield;
  • a new 3D Head-Up Display;
  • a 17.9-inch central touchscreen;
  • a dedicated 14.6-inch passenger display.

Rear passengers continue to enjoy the impressive 31.3-inch BMW Theatre Screen, transforming the rear cabin into a premium entertainment lounge.

The overall design follows the clean, minimalist philosophy introduced with the Neue Klasse family while significantly increasing digital functionality.

BMW's most exclusive paint finish

The Goodwood display vehicle also attracted attention thanks to its unique BMW Individual two-tone paint finish.

The combination of gloss and matte versions of the same color requires approximately 75 hours of handcrafted work, making it one of the most complex factory paint processes BMW has ever offered.

The flagship plug-in hybrid remains at the top

The M760e xDrive continues to serve as the flagship plug-in hybrid in the updated 7 Series lineup.

Its electrified inline-six powertrain combines strong performance with the ability to drive on electric power for everyday commuting, while the refreshed range also includes gasoline, diesel, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric i7 variants.

Why Goodwood matters

Goodwood has become much more than a hill climb event.

For BMW, it serves as the perfect venue to demonstrate not only performance but also craftsmanship, innovation, and premium design.

The refreshed 7 Series represents exactly that philosophy—a luxury flagship showcasing where BMW's premium lineup is heading over the coming years.

Final thoughts

The facelifted BMW 7 Series is less about radical exterior styling and more about redefining the luxury experience inside the cabin.

With Panoramic iDrive, next-generation displays, premium materials, and one of BMW's most sophisticated paint finishes ever created, the new flagship demonstrates how the brand intends to blend technology with luxury throughout the Neue Klasse era.
