BMW iX5 G65 Debuts in Frozen Tanzanite Blue — A Perfect Match for BMW's New Electric SUV
Until now, every public appearance of the all-new BMW iX5 G65 featured traditional metallic paint finishes. That changed during a BMW presentation in Romania, where the electric flagship SUV was shown for the first time in BMW Individual Frozen Tanzanite Blue.
The matte finish completely transforms the way the new X5 looks. Instead of bright reflections, the bodywork highlights its sharp character lines, sculpted surfaces and distinctive X-shaped daytime running lights, giving the SUV an even more modern and premium appearance.
A Color That Brings the Design to Life
Frozen Tanzanite Blue has already become one of BMW Individual's most recognizable finishes, but on the new iX5 it feels particularly well suited.
The presentation vehicle combines the exclusive paint with the M Sport Package and new 23-inch Polygon 1121 M aerodynamic wheels, currently the largest factory wheels ever fitted to a production BMW. Together, they give the electric SUV an unmistakably sporty presence despite its generous dimensions.
More Than Just a Beautiful SUV
Behind the striking exterior is one of BMW's most advanced electric vehicles to date.
The iX5 60 xDrive features a 141 kWh usable battery, the largest battery pack ever installed in a production BMW. According to official figures, the SUV delivers up to 845 km (WLTP) of driving range, making it the brand's second longest-range EV after the upcoming Neue Klasse i3.
Charging performance is equally impressive. Thanks to BMW's new 800-volt architecture, the iX5 supports charging speeds of up to 460 kW, allowing the battery to recharge from 10% to 80% in approximately 23 minutes. BMW also claims that just 10 minutes of charging can add around 350 km of WLTP range under ideal conditions.
Big Battery, Practical SUV
A battery of this size inevitably adds weight, with the iX5 approaching 2.9 tonnes in EU curb weight.
Despite that, practicality remains one of its strongest qualities. The SUV offers up to 670 kg of payload, can tow trailers weighing up to 2.7 tonnes, and provides 655 to 1,850 litres of cargo space. In addition, BMW includes a 53-litre front trunk, giving owners a convenient place to store charging cables and small luggage.
Technology Meets Emotion
The new BMW iX5 isn't simply another electric SUV.
It represents BMW's vision of combining long-range capability, ultra-fast charging and premium design into one package. Exclusive BMW Individual finishes such as Frozen Tanzanite Blue add another emotional dimension, proving that color can be just as important as performance when creating a truly desirable luxury vehicle.
For many enthusiasts, this may already be the best-looking version of the all-new BMW iX5 G65.
